April 2004 - Paris Previous  Next

We liked our hotel room at Hotel Valadon in Paris and loved the location even more.  It was less than 1.5 miles from the Eiffel Tower, the Military Museum, and Napoleon's Tomb located on the right bank in the Invalides area of Paris (south of the Seine River).  The room was small by American standards, but there was enough room.  We really loved the down feather comforters.

The Rue Cler open air market was only a block from our hotel and offered crepes, cheeses, wine, fruits and vegetables, bakeries, meats, flowers, and more.  Rick Steves was right when he said eating the delicious French food is as important as sight seeing.

The kids had a snack before seeing the Military Museum and Napoleon's tomb.  The kids liked the canons.

On our Seine River tour, the smaller replica of the Statue of Liberty marked the turn around point of the tour.

The restoration of Notre Dame revealed its beauty.

We took the train from Beauvais to Paris for a day of shopping with our niece, Shannon, while Jeff took the kids sight seeing.

In Beauvais, Ryan saw the red button on the alarm and pushed it.  Luckily, an employee at the train station saw it and was able to make a phone call to prevent fire and rescue from responding.  We apologized and Ryan said he wouldn't push any more red buttons.  The gray train was next to ours at the Paris station and looked like a neat photo.
