December 1, Cyber Monday

The moon, Venus (bottom) and Jupiter (right) are visible along with the lights of a passing airplane taking off from Washington Dulles.  I guess it was a bumpy flight.

The camera settings were 4 seconds, f/8, ISO 400 at 100mm (cropped).

December 6-7, Saturday-Sunday

We had a good time visiting Sal, Gail, Erin and Alfio over the weekend.  It was fun to catch up in each other's lives. See more photos.

December 11, Thursday

Ainsley's second grade class sang some songs for their parents.  See more photos.  The video is coming later.

December 14, Sunday

We arrived in Washington DC before sunrise for the Jingle All of the Way 10K Race.  This was Betsi's second 10K race.  The 3,475 racers were given jingle bells for their shoes as they raced along the Potomac River near the Tidal Basin and around Hains Point.  Betsi shaved two minutes off her time from last month and finished in 1 hour 13 minutes.  See some other stats.

December 20, Saturday

Jeff played the part of the chase car leading Santa on a fire truck throughout the neighborhood.  He took a number of photos for publication in the monthly home owners association almanac.

Betsi signed up for a Facebook account a few weeks ago and is finding old friends she had lost contact with year ago.  Jeff will probably join too because he doubts more than three people read this web site.  :-)

We met with friends in the neighborhood for a gingerbread house contest.  They were all quite creative.  See more photos.

December 21, Sunday

Our friend and neighbor, Rick, came home from Iraq for Christmas.  The kids enjoyed the surprise.  The family had a party a week later for their neighborhood friends who were still in town.  See more photos.

December 22, Monday

Jeff's parents joined us at the Kennedy Center to see the Master Chorale of Washington's Christmas Candlelight Concert.  It definitely puts you into the Christmas spirit.  They always put on a fantastic show and this is our fifth or sixth time seeing them and the second time for the kids.  Most of the songs change each year and include some in Latin and another language.

December 23, Tuesday

Brian C. stopped by for dinner during his quick Christmas visit.  He's working in Bangkok.

December 24, Wednesday, Christmas Eve

Page and Ross were over for a non-traditional Christmas dinner of make your own pizza.  All other family members were out of town, so we decided to shake things up a bit.  We are so rebellious.  :-)  Later, we jumped on the webcam to Andy, Tracey, Tyler, Cody, Fred and Nancy in Australia.  Their kids woke up extra early and enjoyed their Christmas morning already.  They are 14 hours ahead.

December 25, Thursday, Christmas

We all enjoyed Christmas morning at our house.  Ainsley models an outfit from High School Musical and Ryan has Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii.

Christmas day and the following day were spent at Jeff's sister's family's house in Williamsburg.  I didn't take as many photos as I thought I did.  See more photos.

December 26, Friday

Colonial Williamsburg celebrated their 50th Anniversary of the Fife and Drum by marching down Duke of Glouster Street.  See more photos.

December 28, Sunday

This was a first for our neighborhood (that we know about).  A police helicopter, cruisers and policemen on foot searched for a suspect that resisted arrest and took off running.  The emails and phone calls went flying through our neighborhood watch network.  After the police left, the suspect was spotted by neighbors, the police returned, and the suspect was arrested.

December 31, Wednesday

A New Year's Eve party at our house was also a surprise birthday party for Barbara.  See more photos.
