July 4, Friday

Bob, Barbara, Holly and Tim were going to the Mall to watch the fireworks in DC and the unpredictable weather forecast changed our plans for the weekend.  We left Jeff's camera and tripod at home and brought the Canon SD800 point and shoot camera instead.

We sat between the Washington Monument (behind us) and the World War II Memorial.

Despite the on again, off again showers in the evening, the rain stopped long enough for the fireworks.  As always, the fireworks in DC are impressive.

July 10, Thursday

Ryan wanted to know how we magically obtained new songs, so Jeff was teaching Ryan about iTunes.  Ryan and his friends have made purchases through Legos and are starting to understand about online purchasing.

July 12, Saturday

Ryan enjoyed his 10th birthday at Sportrock with some of his friends.

July 19, Saturday

Betsi organized the adult pool party for our HOA.  Things ran smoother this year.  Two years ago, it sold out.  Last year was hot and humid during setup that lead to rain the first hour.

July 20, Sunday

Ryan and Ainsley enjoyed jumping off of the diving board.

Clouds were rolling in as we sat on the back deck with some friends.  A fast moving, white band of clouds passed over our house within two minutes.

July 27, Sunday - Newburg, Maryland

Mark and Michelle rented a house on the Potomac River through VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) for a few days and invited us to spend the day with them.  After playing in the shallow water and trying to eat some mud, Quincy needed an outdoor shower and new clothes.  I noticed she didn't have the strength yet to turn the hose on all of the way and got close for a few quick photos.  It looks like Quincy wants to squirt me in the worst way.

Ainsley and Remy play in the family room after borrowing the bedspread from someone's room.  Quincy and Michelle relax inside as an afternoon thunderstorm passes through.

We made arrangements to meet Mark and Michelle next weekend in California.  They were there on vacation and we were going there for a wedding.

We met John, Karin, Mason and Lauren for dinner on the way home.  We were less than half an hour away and hadn't seen them in over a year.  It was fun to catch up and see how much each other's kids have grown.

July 30, Saturday

Ryan adds a bit of flare during the cannonball contest at the HOA preteen pool party.  Jeff took over 400 photos of the event for the monthly almanac.

Fifty pizzas were ordered for the hungry kids.

Ainsley does her best at the limbo contest while Betsi shows her newly discovered martial arts skills.
