The kids wanted to go running with Betsi. Only
Zack was able to run the mile while Ainsley and Ryan rode their bikes.
Ryan's couldn't be happier playing in
the rain.
Ainsley's day care invited the families to a Halloween
costume night with crafts and face painting. Ainsley is a princess
and Ryan took off his Darth Vader mask for face painting.
Ryan sticks out his tongue a bit when
he's concentrating on his homework. I almost got a picture of
it. Here, he's working on his project about Daddy Long Leg spiders.
We had a cool, but sunny weekend to visit Cox
Farms right before Halloween. The kids loved the hay ride, slides,
farm animals and more. It's only 15 minutes away; south of Dulles
Airport. The farm is surrounded by subdivisions, so there is a sense
of old versus new less than 1/4 mile apart.
Darth Vader and a princess were the kids'
choice this year. The glow sticks made them easy to find in
the dark. The neighborhood gathered at one neighbors house for
a pizza dinner and then 20 kids raced from door to door to see who
could get the most candy the fastest. We had to slow them down
as the parents couldn't keep up. We took two coolers on wheels
this year filled with beer and juice boxes. Hey, the parents
have to have fun too! It took a little over two hours to go
around our 8/10 mile circle with all of the cul-de-sacs and pipestems.
Ryan was proud he had an obscene amout of 216 pieces of candy.
We only saw 100 houses, so I'm not sure how he got so much.
