If you have two or more computers, then I'd recommend networking them together.  The benefits include:

• Share an internet connection
• Share files
• Share a printer
• Added layer of security from hackers on the internet
• Play games head to head

Network Diagram

Here is an example of a home network.  Most routers can accept 253 wireless connections and 4 wired connections.  Both desktop and notebook computers can connect by wired Ethernet cables or a wireless network card.  You can also connect TiVo, a media hub, Xbox, or networked printer.
