The Apple MacBook Pro has a long list of enhancements over the MacBook that makes this a top choice for professionals.  However, the $1,500 MacBook is quite similar for $500 less.  It makes the MacBook Pro a tough sell right now.

15 Inch MacBook Pro for $2,000

Part Model Comment
Processor 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Screen 15 inch LED
1440×900
Only the 15 inch MacBook Pro has a LED screen.  This screen is thinner than any other screen, takes less battery power, and produces whiter looking whites.  All notebooks will eventually have LED screens.
Memory 2GB 2GB is standard.  I have yet to see a review that shows applications running faster with 4GB rather than 2GB.
Hard Drive 200GB 120GB is large enough for most everything, so 200GB offers more breathing room.  For added speed, upgrade to a 7200rpm hard drive.
DVD 8X DVD burner
Video card 256MB GeForce 8600M GT
Software iLife '08 iLife is installed on every Mac.  It includes iPhoto, iWeb, GarageBand, iDVD and iMovie.  iMovie is strictly for beginners.
Software Photoshop Although iPhoto is great, Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 6 are the best in class for photo editing.

Here are the technical specs.
